Product Care Guide
To keep your Secret Owners Club products looking their best, please follow the care instructions below.
General Care
Your piece is a heavyweight 100% cotton tee, built to last and to wear in beautifully over time. The single best thing you can do is wash it less and air it more — hang it to breathe between wears rather than washing after every outing. This protects the colour, keeps the structure crisp, and is kinder to the planet. Always turn the garment inside out before washing or ironing to shield the embroidery and the leather-look patches. With a new dark piece, wash it on its own the first time, as deep colours can release a little excess dye.
Cleaning / Washing Instructions
Machine wash cool, at a maximum of 30°C, on a gentle cycle and inside out. Use a mild detergent and wash with similar colours — cold water keeps black looking deep and rich. Skip the bleach, and go easy on fabric softener, which can coat cotton fibres and dull the finish over time. Don't overload the drum; a little room means a gentler, more even wash. For small marks, spot-clean rather than running a full cycle.
To dry, never tumble dry — the heat shrinks cotton and can stiffen the patches. Reshape the garment while damp and dry it flat or on a hanger, out of direct sunlight (strong sun fades black). Avoid drying it over a hot radiator.
Storage
Store your tee clean and completely dry — putting anything away damp invites musty smells. For heavyweight tees, folding is better than hanging long-term, as hangers can stretch the shoulders over time. Keep them in a cool, dry, dark drawer or shelf, and avoid sealing cotton in plastic for long periods, as it needs to breathe. When folding, keep the leather-look patch flat and avoid creasing a sharp fold across it. A cedar block or a scented sachet in the drawer keeps everything fresh and deters moths.
Ironing
Iron inside out on a medium-high cotton setting; a touch of steam helps relax the heavier fabric. The key thing: don't iron directly over the leather-look patch or the embroidery — go around them, or lay a thin cotton pressing cloth over the top. Direct heat can scorch or shine the patch and flatten the stitch work. Using a pressing cloth across the whole garment also gives dark cotton a clean, matte finish with no iron-shine.
